Language Arts

Benchmark Advance is the LAUSD adopted Language Arts series for Reading Language Arts and English Language Development. It offers a rigorous program that allows for differentiation to meet the needs of all learners.  We also work with Literacy Partners to ensure student success in reading and writing and we are part of the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC).  Our work with LDC focuses on backwards planning which ensures rigorous lessons and active learning.

Many of the Rosewood teachers have earned Micro Credentials in Literacy and are trained in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling).  This training provides teachers with the skills they need to master the fundamentals of reading instruction - phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing and language.  Teachers are also in the Orton-Gillingham Approach which is a multisensory phonics technique for remedial reading instruction.
